Lindisfarne - Holy Island

A day trip to Lindisfarne - the site of the first Viking raid on England where the monks had plenty of undefended gold and jewels. Also credited as the seed of Christianity in England and Scotland. Two pretty big deals in UK history on one little island.

Roisin rugged up from the wind
Nick - about to rob me next to the priory
Nick protecting Aria from the intense wind
Simon with the mainland behind him

Woops - the tide came in early by over
30mins because of a storm surge so we got
stuck on Lindisfarne for an extra 6-hours
until the tide went out again :-(
Oh well, to the pub

Finally back to Alnwick - all dressed up for Christmas
